A celebration of creativity, heritage and the art of presentation
Fabric Story Studio was awarded the “Best Looking Stand 2026” at the Festival of Quilts 2026 that had over 200 exhibitors from 22 countries.
This award represents much more than the appearance of a tradeshow stand. From the very beginning, Fabric Story Studio has been created around the belief that every collection tells a story. We wanted our first Festival of Quilts stand to reflect that philosophy — bringing together beautiful fabrics, textile heritage, craftsmanship and contemporary creativity in an environment that invited visitors to stop, explore and discover the stories behind the collections.
The stand brought together our growing range of fabrics, carefully presented in colour-coordinated displays, alongside quilts, creative projects, accessories and examples of how the fabrics can be used. From quilting and patchwork to dressmaking, fashion, home décor and textile crafts, our aim was to demonstrate that these fabrics are not simply something to buy — they are a starting point for creativity. The display also allowed visitors to see the breadth of our collections and the extraordinary variety of patterns and colourways available.
At the heart of Fabric Story Studio is a passion for textile heritage. Our Three Cats™ collection carries a remarkable history, connecting British textile heritage with manufacturing in South Africa and now bringing that story back to the United Kingdom. The Fabric Story Studio philosophy is to preserve, celebrate and share the world's textile stories through thoughtfully curated collections, giving heritage fabrics a place in contemporary creative life.
Winning the award was particularly special because it came directly from the organisers of one of the UK's most important celebrations of quilting and textile creativity. It was wonderful to see visitors responding not only to the fabrics themselves, but also to the way the entire collection had been presented. The stand was designed to feel welcoming and inspirational, allowing customers to browse, handle the fabrics, talk about projects and discover new possibilities.
Rees and Rose, the husband-and-wife team behind Fabric Story Studio, were delighted to accept the award. Their vision is to build a British textile business that combines heritage, quality and creativity while encouraging makers of all kinds to explore the possibilities of fabric. The response at the Festival of Quilts has given that vision an exciting start.
Winning “Best Looking Stand 2026” is a wonderful recognition of that vision — and we are incredibly proud to bring the award home to Milton Keynes. It is also just the beginning of the Fabric Story Studio story.
